The cold air pressed against the paper screens of the buildings in the Souma main house and partially chilled the air inside. Everybody was there for the New Years gathering. Paper decorations clung all over the walls and their vivid colors danced in the wind coming from the slightly open screen door. Conversations merged together into a muddle of ambiguous noise and it filled the room with a sense of cheer, however small.
